6 Things That Motivate Olympic Athletes ... And Your Team!

Watching the Olympics the past couple of weeks has really inspired me to be the best employee, friend, daughter and marathon runner (Yes, I said marathon runner) I can be.

Take a look at what keeps your favorite Olympians motivated! These are the same things that can keep you and your team reaching for gold throughout the year.

1. Being part of a team. The teamwork mentality and the responsibility of representing the company or team can keep employees working hard.

2. Enjoying what you do. Olympians love their sport. Do your best to make sure you and your employees are doing jobs that are truly satisfying and fulfilling.

3. Seeing an end point. For athletes there’s always a competition date or game day. Set deadlines and goals with a date to work toward.

4. Knowing rewards are waiting. Olympians are always working toward a gold medal. Make sure employees know what rewards await them if successful. Think: Bonuses, a day off, lunch or recognition in a company newsletter.

5. Five-star training Olympians train throughout the year with the best coaches in the country! Offer various training opportunities for your employees like conferences or on-line courses and webinars.

6. Good working conditions. Olympic athletes train and compete in only the best facilities. Do your best to make sure your team has a comfortable working environment with all necessary supplies.

What 2008 Olympic story is most inspiring to you?
Michael Phelps anyone?
